This attractive, 12-story apartment building at 100 Barrow Street replaces a parking lot on the southeast corner of the full block bounded by Barrow, Greenwich, Christopher and Hudson Streets owned by St. Luke’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church in the West Village.

It was due for completion in 2017 by Toll Brothers.

Barry Rice is the architect of the residential building and Andrew Bartle Architects replaced Mr. Rice as the architect of the school expansion.  Mr. Rice originally planned a 15-story residential building with 49 units but the Landmarks Preservation Commission wanted it lowered.

It will have 29 co-operative apartments, including 7 “affordable” units and four townhouse rental units.

Interiors are by Bernheimer Architecture.

Proceeds from the development will help fund the church’s own construction that will include an expansion of its private school from 230 to 320 seats and the construction of a new mission where L.G.B.T.Q. homeless youth can receive meals and shelter and as a drop-in shelter where people can get a change of clothes and take showers.
